All of the pubs on this crawl are old buildings with riverside terraces, and the ambience can be almost magical on a fine summer’s evening. It starts in Wapping at a tavern associated with a few historical figures, near Execution Dock, then moves on to a relatively recent warehouse conversion named after a notorious but unsuccessful pirate who was hanged nearby. Next will be what is claimed to be the oldest and most famous riverside pub in London, then passing through the first ever underwater tunnel to Rotherhithe and a historic old pub, the departure point of a famous ship that took some of the first English settlers to America, finishing at a pub with an absolutely stunning riverside view.
